Strengthening international cooperation for the growth of the DME industry

The year 2024 has arrived. It is the year of the “Cheongryong”, the blue and righteous dragon of the East. We are experiencing complex political, economic, and industrial changes as networks that were cut off due to COVID-19 are restored, entering the pre-COVID-19 world, and making further progress.

In particular, we realize that the energy sector is rapidly transforming into a decarbonized society. At COP28 held in Dubai in 2023, we need to "initiate the transition away from fossil fuels in a fair, orderly, and equitable way by 2030." 

It is considered to be very meaningful and the result of integrating the sharp interests of each country, and through this, it was read as a movement to rapidly decarbonize and enter a carbon-neutral society.

In order to actively respond to this movement, our association members, who are leading the business of capturing CO₂ and converting it into methanol and DME through chemical conversion, will define DME as a clean fuel for agriculture and industry in 2024 and enter the smart farm-only fuel market and industrial fuel market. We will strive to enter the market as a fuel for boilers.

The Korea DME Association will blend DME with LPG, which has a low global warming poteneial, and convert it into a clean compound with a lower warming poteneial, and convert it into a mixed raw material to lead the aerosol industry.

This year, we will further strengthen international cooperation to revitalize the DME industry in Asia and the Pacific Rim to lead an orderly transition to decarbonization and the formation of an eco-friendly compound platform.
