Expansion of DME Asia-Pacific Rim

In 2023, the new year, which means a black rabbit, has come. We, who have been living in this era with COVID-19 for the past three years, have come to accept many changes.

The most significant change is that we have felt the impact of abnormal temperature and climate change on our real life according to the change of the four seasons, and as a decarbonized society has become an issue in each country, the need for carbon neutrality is being shouted out in unison.

In addition, the price of most energy sources increased due to the Ukraine-Russia war, and the need for energy security and energy diversification became an urgent issue not only in developed countries but also in many developing countries.

As a result, not only Korea but also most advanced countries are demanding a shift in the paradigm of all industries to "decarbonization and carbon neutrality," and sustainable energy, clean environment, health, hygiene, food, agriculture, and digital culture such as the transition to a hydrogen society, CCUS technology to reduce greenhouse gas.

Since DME, a low-carbon eco-friendly fuel and chemical, is manufactured from collected CO2 or biogas, it is reported that mixing with LPG as a recycling chemical will reduce carbon dioxide by more than 50%, and demonstration projects are underway in Europe and the United States.

In the age of carbon neutrality, the business of supplying low-carbon fuel, DME, has entered a time when it has to be introduced into the market in terms of energy diversification, which is very important. Recently, in order to apply it as a fuel in the mobility field (automobile, ship, etc.), it is expanding its use to e-Fuel, a carbon-neutral circulating fuel. 

The Korea DME Association will cooperate to expand and distribute low-carbon energy DME not only in Korea but also in Asia and the Pacific Rim, and will continue to cooperate with domestic and foreign energy associations and institutions to grow it to be used as a low-carbon energy source.
